The Squadrons nick-name was "Dirty 30".I joined 30 Squadron in January 1976, the Squadron were in training for a OP BANNER TOUR to Londonderry.I was on the rear party with S/sgt Doug Vidler,Jock Nelson,Brian Lindley and Archie Moore to name a few.
In 1977 32 Engineer Regiment was disbanded,30 SQN moved to Iserlohn,7 SQN to Nienburg and the(Then)last Engineer Armoured Squadron 26 moved to Munsterlarger.Times change now try to find a Field Squadron.
Not long after the disbandment our old Co Lt Col Mark Coe was shot and Killed by the IRA in Bielfeld.I think all of us who served with 30 Sqn in Hohne and Iserlohn have Fond memories of our time in the Sqn.30 Sqn is the only surviving Sqn that i served in it reformed in 2003. The rest i understand are "filed" at Chatham.
